Thomas Alexander Dekker was born December 28, 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada. His father is Dutch and his mother Welsh. Thomas' mother is a concert pianist, acting coach, actress, and singer. His late father was an artist, set designer, opera singer and actor. As a child his family moved often, living in the United States, Europe and Canada. Thomas has a half-brother, Erik, and half-sister, Diana.
Career
Thomas' career began at the age of six with an appearance on the soap opera The Young and the Restless. He then played in Star Trek Generations and Village of the Damned. In 1997, he became a regular on the Disney TV show Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show. After the show's end in 2000, Thomas made appearances on Run of the House, Fillmore!, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, House, Boston Public, Reba and 7th Heaven. He has also appeared in the films Campus Confidential and An American Tail: The Mystery of the Night Monster. Thomas has won three Young Artist Awards for his work in The Land Before Time movies and his appearances on Boston Public.
In 2006, Thomas landed a recurring role on the show Heroes as Zach. He stayed on for eleven episodes before leaving the show to star in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles as John Connor. The show made its debut on January 13, 2008 and was canceled May 18, 2009. He then went on to make appearances in From Within and My Sister's Keeper. In 2010, Thomas starred in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Thomas Dekker has also starred in Gregg Araki's Kaboom, which was the first film ever awarded the Cannes Film Festival "Queer Palm Award" for its contribution to LGBT presence in cinema. In 2011, Thomas was cast as Adam, the lead male, in the CW series The Secret Circle.
